About this event

Kishino Takagishi & Henry Wolf - 'Radio in the Well'

In a debut performance from the duo, Wolf and Takagishi will utilize their cumulative experiences as musicians and filmmakers to exhibit sample-based and multi-instrumental pieces. These works will feature live instrumentation exploring curated environmental landscapes to create a duet between conductors of all varieties.

Kishino Takagishi is an multimedia artist based in Chicago, IL. Kishino's work employs concepts of siblinghood, emblems, and psychological histories in order to construct an aesthetic attitude towards a wide range of disciplines including moving image, installation, drawing, and 3-d fabrication. She received her BFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2020) and her work has been exhibited at Onion City Film Festival, Zhou B Arts Center, and the Experimental Sound Studio (Chicago).

Henry Wolf is a multi-instrumentalist and producer based in Chicago, IL. He is a founding member and bassit of the band Manwolves and has been a touring musician with the group for the past 5 years. Additionally, Henry's first recorded solo body of work 'Clips Spent Knowing" is set to be released later in 2024.

Mallory Qiu - "Songs of the Moon Over Mountain"

Drawing upon the rich cultural tapestry of her roots, Mallory Yanhan Qiu intricately weaves together multimedia elements to invite the audience to immerse themselves in the essence of her cultural and artistic journey from her hometown Chongqing to Chicago.

The performance is a sensory experience, incorporating a mesmerizing blend of piano and synthesizer improvisation intertwined with movement, poetry reading, and projection visuals. Divided into four distinct chapters, each segment unfolds like a poetic narrative: "一时啼" (A Momental Chirp), "万重山" (Ridge after Ridges), "月向西" (Moon Towards West), and "影入湖" (Shadow into the Lake).

Mallory Yanhan Qiu is a rising artist based in Chicago, Illinois, born in Chongqing, China in 2000. Her interdisciplinary approach reflects her deep passion and honed expertise in the areas of live video and sound performance, sonic exploration, body movement, poetry, and digital visual art.

Fueled by her curiosity in the realm of physical sensation and mimicking biological movements, Qiu endeavors to invert the familiar and discover memory-laden locations that exist simultaneously in proximity and distance. Through examination of the tumultuous fluctuations of daily life, she endeavors to bridge the gaps between space, physicality, and recollection. By seamlessly integrating elements of movement, auditory study, and visual art, Qiu creates works that probe and expand upon one’s experiences and perspectives in both the physical and virtual spheres. Qiu has performed at Compound Yellow, Epiphany Center for the Arts, Elastic Arts, Mana Contemporary, {} () {} ∆ ‡ | () {} Nonation Art Lab, Research House for Asian Art, SAIC, and Tritriangle.
