Shikoukairo II: Patterns of Thought
Live from Hairpin Arts Center

Join us online for 2020 exhibiting artist Kiyomi Negi’s individual artist talk! Kiyomi Negi is a second-generation Japanese/Chinese American illustrator and multidisciplinary designer born and raised in Chicago. She has over 10 years of experience working as a creative consultant for a wide range of industries, specializing in graphic design, visual storytelling, branding, and illustration. In her personal work, She often draws inspiration from her heritage, featuring pop, comical drawings reminiscent of mangas she grew up reading or incorporating bold, modern graphics particularly unique to Japanese design. As a bilingual and bicultural Chicago native, Kiyomi enjoys blending (Mid)Western aesthetics with Eastern sensibility to explore the stark differences found between American and Japanese aesthetic trends. Tune into our livestream to learn more from Kiyomi as she speaks about her practice as an illustrator and her contribution to SHIKOUKAIRO II.

This event is part of the Shikoukairo II special programming, and the exhibit is a Chicago Obihiro Exchange Project Initiative presented by Asian Improv aRts Midwest.
